Popular holiday destinations that you've never been to and have no interest in visiting?

(must stress *not* been to, not been to and think are shit)

I'll start:

BERLIN. Just looks gimmicky and full of hipsters and able to get the exact same nightlife experience visiting Shoreditch or Brixton.

CANCUN. Dunno anyone who's been who hasn't been heavily disappointed. 90% male and 90% yanks.

INDIA (CITIES). Almost everyone even the most open minded and off the beaten track types talk of filth everywhere, constant hassle and food poisoning. Indians themselves seem to absolutely hate Delhi. Met a woman once who said she got sexually assaulted not once but twice on public transport

IRELAND. Its just England but shitter weather, ain't it?

Any more for any more? Feel free to try and change each others minds. Sensible discussion only please.

This is relevant to West Ham cos we might get one of these places in a pre season or something.

I went years avoiding Ibiza purely cos of the attitude/aura around it from people who never shut up about it (we know the type)

Went a couple of years ago and loved it.

Came back and mentioned to someone I'd been and instantly got lectured/berrated for not having been certain places and not going in the 90s and how many times he'd been etc etc etc etc.

Such a shame people who go regularly can be such cunts about it as its actually a beautiful island with loads to do and a fantastic nightlife

Pretty much those mashed has mentioned and for the same reasons.

Would also include Thailand...full of nonces and death penalty for a bit of hash...not for me.

Don't fancy any part of North Africa either...dry and baron with plenty of disease...then a whole load of poisoness snakes, spiders. In fact you may well as stick South Africa on the list as well.

Just add I for many years avoided going Ibiza as I thought it would be like the tv programme from the late 90s ibiza uncovered*

Finally went for my stag in 2008 and have been back every year since. Doing a villa with the missus and other couples in September for a few of our 40ths. It's all about which parts you go.

*Having made the mistake of staying in San Antonia one year it is EXACTLY like Ibiza uncovered and full of pissed brits acting like only pissed up brits can.

Probably time to say I've been to Thailand 4 times. Beautiful country and the north and south are totally different worlds.

Yeah the blatant sex tourists are disgusting and pitiful but they're very easily avoided. Stay away from Pattaya and seedier parts of Samui/Phuket and you'll never see one.

Very unlikely to face the death penalty unless you attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs in or out, so all but the most stupid should be safe from that.

Was thinking of adding North Africa. I went to Egypt as a kid but people i know who've been Tunisia/Morrocco etc tend to never leave the hotel except on guided tours and advise everyone do the same. No idea if that's representative though. Happy to be educated.

Ireland? Fuck off with that. I go all the time and never fail to have a brilliant time. I am slightly biased maybe and have a lot of family there.

Can I nominate PORTUGAL and LOLSTRALIA?

The former i don't need to visit as my perception is it's the same as Spain, which is alright but I wouldn't rush back to. the latter is simply full of cunts called Henry on a gap year.

Dubai is one I've never seen the attraction of. Also Florida.

Been S.E Asia many times love it there.

Also Ibiza in the early nineties and anyone who didn't go then is a massive cunt HTH

Fair enough mashed, sounds like it's all about where you go in Thailand. Anyone I know who has been has only said good things...i think I'd still struggle know that country allows the nouncing to go on.


I just realised I said North Africa and I've been Egypt...worst place I've ever been...got I'll out there and got stooped getting on the plane home. Couldnt fly back for 5 daysand I swear I've never felt so homesick in all my life.

Literally nowhere isn’t interesting. They all have their good points and bad. I’ve been to all of the OPs selection and they are great.

I’ve never been to South America and really look forward to it as soon as the opportunity arrives. I also want to see a lot more of Africa.

Stepney, AFAIK the age of consent is 18 and very harshly enforced. Sex tourists tend to be fat middle aged westerners or Korean/Jap businessmen lording it up cos they've paid for a haggared old brass to sit next to them in a bar. In many hotels there are signs reminding guests that prostitution, believe it or not, is illegal and not to bring "bar girls" anywhere near the hotel. Its not a scene I've ever indulged in and as I said its very easily avoided.

Re Egypt, i went as a kid and what i remember was constant hassle. Think that sort of thing is part & parcel of visiting some places and some weirdos seem to actually enjoy it.
